It encompasses a range of abusive actions and behaviors that can be physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, or financial in nature. Physical Abuse

Physical violence or assault, such as hitting, slapping, punching, kicking, or restraining the victim.

Sexual Abuse

Forced or coerced sexual acts, sexual assault, rape, or any other form of sexual coercion without the victim’s consent.

Emotional and Psychological Abuse

Non-physical forms of abuse, including intimidation, threats, humiliation, constant criticism, controlling behavior, isolation, gaslighting, and manipulation.

Economic Abuse

Controlling the victim’s financial resources, denying access to money, restricting employment opportunities, or using financial dependence as a means of control.

IPC 498A is a section of the Indian Penal Code that deals with offenses related to cruelty by a husband or his relatives towards a married woman. This section was introduced to address the issue of dowry-related harassment and violence against women in India. IPC 498A defines cruelty as any willful conduct that is likely to drive a woman to commit suicide or cause grave physical or mental harm, endanger her life, or impair her health. Dowry Prohibition Act is an Indian law which was enacted on 1st of May in the year 1961. This act was levied to prevent giving or receiving any form of dowry. The Dowry Prohibition Act was passed in the year 1961 which justifies the term ‘dowry’ which includes the property, goods, or money that is given by either of the parties who is engaged in the marriage. This can be given by the parents of either of the party or by anyone else who is in connection with the marriage. Through referral services we aim to connect individuals and families with additional such as Legal services, Medical & Health services, Social Services such as shelter and childcare

How to get service from CDEW- FCC : Clients will be encouraged to reach out to the CDEW Family Counselling Centers through various channels. The primary source includes contacting the concerned area L&O, Women Police Stations (PS) and reaching out to nearest CDEW centres in person along with the police petition.

Yes, it is mandatory to visit the police station and report the issue with the police station, then get the petition number and acknowledgement to visit the CDEW FCC Center for counselling
